Kittelson, age 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Prairie Lakes Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown, SD. Pastor Dan Ofstehage will officiate. Music will be provided by his granddaughter, Kayla Burchatz.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. with a Prayer Service/Time of Sharing at 4:00 p.m. Face coverings are required for both the funeral service and the visitation. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd&rsquo;s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be his sons-in-law: Rick Burchatz, Tom Wookey, Dave McNeil, and Bryan Wientjes.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Floyd was born on April 9, 1937, to Elwin and Harriet (Muller) Kittelson, in Watertown. He attended rural country school in Henry and graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. Floyd farmed with his brother Albert near Henry and started Kittelson Farms, Inc. On December 26, 1977, Floyd was united in marriage to Donna Berens. With this union, he was blessed with five daughters ranging in age from 4-14. He took the girls under his wing and put them to work on the farm. They respected and loved him as &ldquo;Dad&rdquo;. He and Donna enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Floyd looked forward to group hunts with his buddies. One would always remember Floyd as having a black lab by his side. Raising and training labs was a true passion of his. He cherished time spent with all of the Kittelson cousins and took great pride in the big reunions on the homestead. Floyd continued farming with his nephew, John, until about ten years ago. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, reading, and playing fastpitch softball for many years. He was known for his cute sense of humor and had a natural gift of storytelling. Attending his daughters and grandchildren&rsquo;s activities was definitely a priority, especially basketball. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan too.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Staying involved in the community was important to Floyd. He was an active member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, ATY Feeder Pigs, Codington County Zoning Board, and Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery Board.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Floyd is survived by his wife, Donna of Watertown, SD; his children: Vickie (Rick) Burchatz of Watertown, SD, Kathy (Tom) Wookey of Clark, SD, Cheryl Hovde of Vienna, SD, Jackie (Dave) McNeil of Aberdeen, SD and Cindy (Bryan) Wientjes of Watertown, SD; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Nelson of Indianola, IA and Karyl (Bill) Sandal of Phillip, SD; and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Kittelson of Watertown, SD, Joan Kittelson of Watertown, SD and Gail Kittelson of Henry, SD.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Gilbert and Albert; one sister, Ruth Roe; and his son-in-law, Mike Hovde.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church Cemetery.</span></span></strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>
