Callie Catherine Christensen Obituary

Callie Catherine (Cathy) Christensen was born on April 11, 1929 in Horton, Kansas to William Edgar Scott and Winona Victoria Stone Scott. She was the youngest of 6 children. She moved with her family to Idaho Falls, Idaho in her early teens. When she was 18, she met and married Gerald O. Christensen and spent the next 69 years together. Their oldest son, Gerald K. was born in 1948, followed by Scott W. in 1950, and their only daughter, Debby, in 1953. After living in California, Wyoming, and Oregon while Gerald worked for various gas companies, and pipelines, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1959. They lived there until Gerald's passing in 2016, when she moved to Boise.
Cathy started working at Idaho State University in the registrars office at the front desk. She used to say that nothing got done till it went through her. After a work place accident, she was forced to retire, and concentrated her time on family.
After Gerald's retirement in 1987, they went on a mission to Hermosillo, Mexico, where she developed a great love for the Mexican people. After their return, they spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona enjoying the many friends they made there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers Wilbur and Marvin, her sisters Dorthy (Dot), Donna, and Bernice, sister-in-law Coral Cheney, a grandson Aaron Christensen, and granddaughter Magen Christensen.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Donita) Christensen and Scott (Teresa) Christensen, her daughter Debby (David) Croshaw, 19 grandkids, 55 great-grandkids, and 5 great-great-grandkids.
Cathy never met a stranger. No matter their gender, religion, color, or political persuasion, if she met someone, they became a friend.
She had a wicked sense of humor that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a hugger. That's how she showed her love. She was one of a kind. Thanks Cathy for just being you.
Cathy passed away on October 27, 2020. Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 4th at 12 noon. A live stream of the services will be available on the Cornelison Funeral Home Facebook page. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.
