<p>Nellie Gray Whaley,&nbsp;81, of Goldsboro&nbsp;left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Monday, October 26, 2020 from Wayne UNC HealthCare.</p> <p>She was born on July 22, 1939 in Wayne County; the daughter of the late Marvin Lancaster and Essie Lane McNamara.&nbsp; She was also predeceased by her husband and father&nbsp;of her children, J.C. Price and later by her second husband, George Benton Whaley; her son, Joe Carroll Price and grandson, James Brandon Price.</p> <p>Mrs. Whaley was a member of Magnolia Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.</p> <p>Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughters, Rose Ingerick and partner, Richard Elmore of Clinton and Patricia Arlene King and husband, Larry of Selma; son, Charles Price of Selma; grandchildren, Christopher Scott&nbsp;Price and wife, Suzanne, Kimberly Dawn Price, Jeremy Brant Ingerick and wife, Nicole, Joseph Scott Price and wife, Cassie, Rhonda Michelle Holland and Charles Tyler Price; 13 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends that loved Nellie dearly.&nbsp;</p> <p>Nellie was a loving mother and caring grandmother. She found joy in the simplest things in life but her greatest joy was family. &nbsp;&nbsp;When her health permitted, she was a diligent homemaker and great cook who filled her home with love.&nbsp; She was considered the &ldquo;Queen&rdquo; of corn meal dumplings as well as homemade biscuits and many other delicious foods she loved to prepare.&nbsp; For over 20 years Nellie was owner and operator of Hot Dog Hamburger Place in Rose Hill and later in Magnolia.&nbsp; With a heart of gold, Nellie was a compassionate,&nbsp;gentle woman who loved with her heart and soul.&nbsp; She was a great nurturer, free hearted and loved by all.&nbsp; Nellie was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that carried her throughout her life.&nbsp; She&nbsp;will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.&nbsp;</p> <p>Due to Covid-19, graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.&nbsp; Pastor Jerry Koonce will officiate the service. Nellie Gray Whaley, 81, of Goldsboro left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Monday, October 26, 2020 from Wayne UNC HealthCare.

She was born on July 22, 1939 in Wayne County; the daughter of the late Marvin Lancaster and Essie Lane McNamara.  She was also predeceased by her husband and father of her children, J.C. Price and later by her second husband, George Benton Whaley; her son, Joe Carroll Price and grandson, James Brandon Price.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Friday at the cemetery.
