John Skarb, age 71 of Wonder Lake, passed away on October 24, 2020, doing what he loved. He was born on February 20, 1949 in Chicago, IL to John and Jean (Parat) Skarb. He graduated from St. John Brebeuf school, with the class of 1963. John was blessed with two children, Jennifer and Melissa. He loved driving, which was evident by his 35 year driving career. John was a family man. He always ensured his children and grandchildren were happy and well cared for. He treasured the time he spent with them and his family. He enjoyed boating, fishing, Nascar, and traveling. John looked forward to his family’s annual trips to Wisconsin Dells and loved to travel to Las Vegas. He looked forward to celebrating the holidays; spoiling his grandchildren on Christmas and watching fireworks on July 4th. John had quite the sweet tooth, especially when it came to cake. He went out of his way to ensure his grandchildren had cookie cake as often as possible. John will be forever remembered by his daughters Jennifer (Joseph) Castillo, Melissa (Patrick) Fritz: grandchildren, Gabriel and Mykaela Castillo, Bryce, Brooke, Madeline Fritz: brothers, Jeff and Jim (Lori) Skarb and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean (Parat) Skarb. There will be a celebration of life for John on Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Justen Funeral Home & Crematory 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL. Inurnment will be private. In honor of John, memorials may be directed to Truckers Final Mile. In accordance with public gathering restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
