Jonathan "Jon" Lauren Janzen Obituary

Jonathan “Jon” Lauren Janzen

October 31, 1985 – October 21, 2020

On Wednesday October 21, 2020, Jonathan Lauren Janzen, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 34 years.

Jonathan (Jon) was born on October 31, 1985 in Grande Prairie, Alberta to Vanesa Maaren and Lauren Janzen.  Jon was a dual ticketed mechanic who became a Mac Tools salesman in the Leduc-Drayton Valley region.  On August 2nd, 2008 he married Amy Bresnahan who proudly took his surname.  Together, they raised three children, Zoe Janzen (9); Nixon Janzen (7) and Jayse Janzen (6). Jon had a passion for life.  He cared about family, friends, adventure, travelling and dreaming. Any person who met Jon would not be able to forget him easily.  Jon did not apologize about who he was, and didn’t shy away from sharing his stories or opinions, whether it was with his friends or thousands of followers on social media.  Jon brought a spark to any situation that made him unforgettable, whether it was saying something inappropriate to lighten the mood, turning a formal event less formal, or performing a hilarious stunt that no one saw coming, usually at the moment of maximum impact.  Jon also knew how to be a true friend.  He stayed surrounded by so many in his life because he made a point of calling, visiting and planning events. Time with Jon was always quality time.  It was common to have Jon plan his next visit with you while you were still in the room.  Jon was truly creative in all that he did.  He took the mundane aspects of life and filled them with comedy sketches, soundtracks, videos and visuals which he would share with anyone willing to listen.  If there was ever a person who could take simple tasks like cooking, cleaning, or conversation and turn them into something unforgettable, it was Jon.

Jon is survived by his father Lauren and his mother Vanesa, his wife, Amy; his three children, Zoe, Nixon and Jayse; his brothers, Aron and Jesse, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held for family and friends.
