David Norman Looking Elk PINE RIDGE, South Dakota Obituary

David Norman Looking Elk

David Norman Looking Elk was born on October 19, 1961 to Zona Wounded and Stanley Looking Elk in Pine Ridge, SD. David made his journey to the Spirit World on October 27, 2020 in Loveland, CO. Dave was such a loving friendly guy. He could always be seen with a big smile on his face. He enjoyed his days with his Mikey, joking, wrestling, hugging and hanging out, the joy of his life. Dave graduated high school at Pine Ridge High School and was a proud Thorpe, he attended United Tribes Technical College and Oglala Lakota College. Dave worked at Wolf Creek School for over 30 years. He watched a lot of students grow up, graduate and was so proud of be a part of their lives, he loved the students and all his coworkers. He loved all his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He had lots of good memories growing up with his grandparents. Dave was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important-the simplicity of living life with those you love. He enjoyed a good football Sunday or a little fishing trip with Mikey. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving father, husband and educator. I can only imagine his happiness when he hugged his mom that he missed so much. David is survived by his wife, Kimberly Brings-Looking Elk; son, Michael “Mikey” David Looking Elk of Rushville, NE; hunka mother, Thelma Mesteth of Pine Ridge, SD; son, Johnathan David Looking Elk of Rapid City, SD; sisters, Debra (Francis) Jensen of #6 Drywood Community and Karyn Eagle of Fort Yates, ND; nephews, Louis (Sharon) Pulliam and Quentin Jensen both of Pine Ridge, SD, and Jake (Angela) Eagle of Fort Yates, ND; nieces, Natasha Pulliam, Maurina Jensen, and Anne Amiotte all of Pine Ridge, SD, Melissa (Garek) Murphy and Bridget (Andrew) Antell both of Fort Yates, ND, Daphne (Brad) Cottier of Mandan, ND, and Tammy Ghost Bear and Elisha Merdanian both of Pine Ridge, SD.
