Mary Rose Martinez, 77, was called home to be with her precious Lord on October 26, 2020 at the Pioneer Healthcare Center in Rocky Ford. She was born in La Junta on September 10, 1943. Mary will be remembered as a loving, caring, Christian woman who loved her Lord with all her heart. She was the matriarch of the family and took care of all who needed her. She is remembered with great fondness for her cooking, especially her tamales at Christmas. Until her illness in 2015, she was involved in her church, First Assembly of God, and volunteered at the La Junta Nursing Home. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Jose, children, Ruby (Kevin) Haddock and Michael (Katherine) Martinez; siblings, George Florez, Stella Florez and Gloria Rocha; grandchildren, Ryan Haddock, Mia Martinez, Daemary and Gonzalo Diaz; great-grandchildren, Riordan, Barrett “Bear”, Beckett and Julianna Rose Haddock; she also leaves behind many loving family members, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Lorie Florez and her brothers, Alfred, Tony and Roger Florez. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor James Crandall of the First Assembly of God in La Junta officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.PeacockFH.com.
