JoDe Bisel Miles Obituary

JoDe Bisel Miles passed away on October 23, 2020 in her home surrounded by her husband and four children. Born on May 28, 1948 in Heber City, Utah to David DeLoy and Louise (Stokes) Bisel, JoDe loved her youth and growing up on a dairy farm in Woodland, Utah. She started dating her now sweetheart of 52 years while attending South Summit High School and married William Guy Miles on April 26, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Utah LDS Temple. After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Utah State University, JoDe taught business classes at colleges in New Jersey and Ohio and also taught at South Summit High School in Kamas, Utah.  JoDe loved her students, horses, the mountains and, most especially, her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

So much more could be shared of JoDe’s achievements and talents, but her family mattered most. She even requested that “ULTRA PROUD PARENTS OF 4 CHILDREN WHO ARE OUR ONLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF REAL SIGNIFICANCE” be inscribed on her tombstone. Those who love her most know intimately there were no lengths to which she would not go for them, and her grandchildren will forever remember the many years of being put to bed by Grandma telling them stories, singing to them and rubbing their backs. JoDe was so easy to talk to and be around and effortlessly made others feel comfortable.  May she now witness the far-reaching impacts of her positivity, warmth, and kindness and feel the depth to which she is loved and will be missed.

JoDe is survived by her husband, Bill Miles; her children, Bill (and Christy) Miles of Lakeside, AZ, Rachelle Miles of Woodland, UT, Sharee (and Matt) Scheerhorn of Gilbert, AZ, Joni (and Shane) Glass of Brentwood, TN; and her eleven grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her siblings, Judy Ann Phillips, Mary Lou Gines, Vicki Lynn Atkinson, Georgia Sue Bates, Billie Sue McNeil, Bonnie Louise Crook, and David Deloy Bisel, Jr. and preceded in death by her parents, Deloy and Louise Bisel and her sister, Beth Ann Brandt.

Viewing and funeral service will both be on Monday, November 2, 2020 (viewing from 10:00am-12 noon with the funeral at 12:30pm) in the Woodland Ward LDS Chapel.  Interment will follow at the Woodland Cemetery. JoDe’s funeral service will also be broadcast on YouTube at https://youtu.be/x9eQVIzrAks with the live feed starting at 12:15pm. Link to the live stream is located at the bottom of this page (underneath the funeral details).
