Life Reflections of Naomi Elizabeth Dicks “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” II Timothy 4:7 KJV Naomi was born on December 19, 1929 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Peter Dicks, Sr. and Elizabeth Cooper Dicks. On Monday, October 26, 2020, she quietly and peacefully passed into eternal rest at Lake City Community Hospital in Lake City, South Carolina. Naomi was nurtured by religious parents and at an early age accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethesda United Methodist Church. As a lifelong member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, she served faithfully in many capacities including: Church Choir, the United Methodist Women, Sunday School Teacher, Financial Secretary, Chairperson of Pastor Parish Relations, Membership Secretary, Church Historian, Summer Lunch Program and a devoted Den Mother for the Club Scout Troop in the Bethesda Community. Naomi received her early education at Cooper’s Academy Elementary School and graduated from Wilson High School, Florence, South Carolina, in 1947. She continued her education at Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Naomi was an educator for over 34 years. She was employed at Coldwater Elementary School, Brown Elementary School, Battery Park Elementary School in Nesmith, SC and Johnsonville Elementary School, Johnsonville, South Carolina. In later years, she was the operator of Dicks Grocery in the Bethesda Community near Cades, South Carolina. Naomi embodied a nurturing and compassionate spirit encompassing a holistic pleasure of family and fellowship. She also enjoyed preparing and generously sharing good food, especially her cakes and pies. She was a true matriarch in her family and community. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Naomi leaves to cherish fond memories: her lovingly devoted sisters Ms. Minnie M. Dicks of the home, SC, Mrs. Amelia (Fred) Broughton of Orangeburg, SC; a special nephew James Gregory Dicks, Jr. of the home, SC, a sister-in-law Mrs. Albertha A. Dicks of Lake City, SC. She loved dearly all of her devoted nieces and nephews and those who gave her special care: James Gregory Dicks, Sr., Craton G. Dicks and Wendy R. Dicks, her goddaughter/niece Regina L. Nesmith-Dimery (Alvin), devoted cousins Stanley McKnight, Ronita Cooper-Gaddist, Ruby Cooper (Sam) and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
