Orville Paulson Obituary

Paul Orville Paulson, son of Hans and Verda Paulson was born on a farm southwest of Stockholm on December 26, 1923.

Orville grew up in a tightly knit family and their home was the center of many gatherings for people near and far. He received his education at Swea School. On December 26, 1988 Orville married Edna.

Orville took over the family farm and was an active member of the community.  He served on various boards including: the Stockholm Co-op, the Stockholm Wheat Pool and Pioneer Hall. In addition, he was a dedicated member of the New Stockholm Lutheran Church and served on the church board for 40 years.

Orville’s passion for music was evident throughout his life. At the age of 15, he joined the New Stockholm Lutheran Choir.  He was well known for his beautiful bass singing voice.  Orville also sang in multiple duets and quartets over the years, especially with his sisters and Edna.  He enjoyed playing the trumpet and was a member of the Pioneer CCYM, and the Stockholm Brass Band.

Orville was proud of his Swedish heritage and was fluent in both speaking and reading the language. Throughout the years he enjoyed singing and dancing in ethnic events.

Orville was a skilled craftsman who created numerous wood carvings.  He especially enjoyed building furniture for his grandchildren.

Orville was predeceased by his parents Hans and Verda, sisters Doris and Vonnie, niece Kathy, and son-in-law Pete Morrison.

Orville will be dearly missed by his wife Edna, daughters Marilyn (John) and Marley; grandchildren Sean (Candice), Chantal, Brendan (Mel); great grandchildren Séamus and Nora; sister Lenore, numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sisters in-law and cousins.

Orville was a dedicated loving man who deeply treasured family and friends.  He was a kind and gentle spirit with a quick and great sense of humour.
