James Edward "Jimbo" Buffington, 50, of Votaw, Texas passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jimbo was born on October 2, 1970, to Linda Gail Sumrall and the late Elliot Douglas Buffington in Liberty, Texas. Jimbo was an Associate Pastor at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church in Rye, Texas. He was a faithful servant with a big heart who ministered to all he met. He loved to sing gospel music, and enjoyed camping, and fishing. Jimbo was known for smoking and grilling the best meats in the area. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Jimbo is preceded in death by his father, Elliot Douglas Buffington Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 20 years Ruby Jean Buffington of Votaw, Texas; mother, Linda Gail Buffington of Votaw, Texas; sons, Robert Jeff Kirkland of Rye, Texas, Melvin Kirkland of Votaw, Texas; daughters, Nicona Buffington Nugent and husband Mark of Votaw, Texas, Jessica Kirkland of Votaw, Texas; brother, Charles Douglas Buffington and wife Shannon of Votaw, Texas; sister, Lori Thompson and husband Larry of Votaw, Texas; grandchildren, Kenzie Kirkland, Jacob Lirkland, Austin Collier, Madalynn Collier, Mark Nugent Jr., Abbie Nugent, Allie Nugent; great grand baby, Reagan Kirkland, also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and a host of friends. A memorial service of remembrance will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Encounter Church Votaw 3160 FM 2798, Votaw, Texas 77376 with Pastor Dean Love officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Buffington Family.
