Donna George

<p>Donna Lee (Gregory) George, 94, passed away in her sleep on October 26, 2020, at El Dorado Care and Rehabilitation Center.<br /> Donna was born on February 25, 1926 in Oil Hill to Thomas and Florence Edna Gregory. She had four siblings. Donna belonged to the El Dorado High School Class of 1944, but left school before graduating to work in the Boeing aircraft assembly plant in Wichita. She was a riveter on the B-29 bomber production line. Later in the war she moved to Nevada to work as a civilian clerk for the U.S. Navy. At the end of the war she lived for a time in Portland, Oregon.<br /> Later moving back to Nevada, she met Dale George, a Kansas native who had been working on the west coast. They married in 1950. Dale was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after his service Dale and Donna moved back to El Dorado with their two young daughters, Vikki Jo and Donna Kathleen. They eventually had two more children, Dale E. &ldquo;Gene&rdquo; George II and Lu Anne.<br /> Donna was dedicated to raising and loving her four children, being active in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and supporting the many school activities in which Vikki, Kathy, Gene and Lu Anne participated. In the 1980s Donna completed her high school education by receiving her (GED) General Educational Development. She did the five tests in one day and earned one of the highest scores in 1983. She loved to meet her fellow Class of &rsquo;44 classmates for lunch and other social activities. In 2015 she attended the last reunion of Oil Hill elementary classmates. She was an avid bowler and loved watching the Kansas City Royals and college basketball.<br /> She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings and her husband. She is survived by her four children, Vikki Stewart and husband, George of Wichita, Kathy Peek and husband, John of Oklahoma City, OK., Gene and wife, Cindy of El Dorado and Lu Anne Vides and husband, Manuel of rural Augusta. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Pat Woodall and brother-in-law, Jim Woodall survive.<br /> Services will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 10:00 am at Carlson Funeral Home.
