LETHA L. ELKINS FORT FAIRFIELD Fort Fairfield – Letha L. Elkins, 75, wife of the late Sherman M. Elkins Jr., passed away peacefully, Friday evening, October 23, 2020 at a Howland healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born June 7, 1945 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Lewis and Gladys (Kinney) Gustin. Letha was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1963 and continued her education to become a certificated nurses aid. She was married to Sherman M. Elkins Jr. on November 4, 1972 and was a member of the United Parish Church, Fort Fairfield. Letha was employed at the Presque Isle Nursing Home, and also worked as a housekeeper for many years. In addition to her parents, Letha was predeceased by her husband Sherman on December 28, 2004; one brother, Donald Gustin; one sister, Ruby Giggey. She is survived by two sons, Robert Paris and his wife Monique of Alfred; Mark Elkins of Houlton; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Green of Worcester, MA; one sister, Dorothy Miller of Riverhead, Long Island, NY; and several nephews. Private graveside services will be conducted at Union Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Ellen Cleaves officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Elkins to Special Olympics Maine, Attn: Phil, 125 John Roberts Road # 5, South Portland, Maine 04106.
