J. Russell H. Leonard,

Of Waltham, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Schenectady, New York, to the late Charles and Marion (Downing) Leonard, he resided the majority of his life in Waltham.

A graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham he received his Degree from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

Mr. Leonard worked as an architect, engineer, and draftsman early in his career. He then founded and operated the Sable Construction Company and the Leonard Development Company. He later went on to be the Facilities Director at the Wellesley Country Club.

He enjoyed bowling and golfing playing in leagues for each. An avid reader he was a devoted fan of both the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. In later years, “Grampy” became the “Chief Transportation Officer” for the family, driving his grandchildren in his Blue Ram Bus for drop off and pick up to school and to their many athletic, and, social events as well as caring for the “grandcats”.

In 2006 Mr. Leonard was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Jeannine G. (LeBlanc) Leonard.

He is survived by his children Jennifer L. Leonard, Christopher J. and his wife Kathleen (Venini) Leonard both of Waltham and Brian J. and his wife Luz (Garay) Leonard of Merrimac, his grandchildren Cody J. and Ryan C. Leonard, Bryanna M. and Julia R. Leonard and Kayden Horner-Leonard and his brothers in law Paul and his wife Joan LeBlanc of Rindge, NH and Roy and his wife Beverly LeBlanc of Brockton. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was the brother of the late George Leonard and brother in law of the late Sr. Doris LeBlanc, CSJ.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to the family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA., on Wednesday Oct. 28th from 4 - 7 p.m. A Funeral Service in celebration of Russell's Life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Thursday afternoon Oct. 29th at 1:00 p.m. followed by his burial at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
