Joyce M. Kochan, Saginaw, Michigan. Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Samaritas Senior Living. Age 89 years. Daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Zietz) Hoebbel, Joyce was born June 26, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Winnford Kochan at Redeemer Lutheran Church on February 4, 1956. He predeceased her May 15, 2016. Joyce was a member of Faith Lutheran Church-Bridgeport, its Ladies Guild, preschool teacher, various bible studies and many church functions. In 2000, Joyce and Winnford drove to Point MacKenzie, Alaska to join our churches mission team that was holding a Vacation Bible School. They fostered and cared for eight infants during the 1960’s. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, crafts, sewing, gardening, her love of pigs and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving to cherish her memory are one daughter and two sons, Linda and Doug Williams, Bradley Kochan and Jeffrey Kochan ; three granddaughters, Leah and Scott Grigonis, Lynsay and George Weber, Sarah and Keenan Albers; four great grandchildren, Chloe, Sophia, Ariel and Theo Grigonas; one sister, Marilyn and Bert Leonard; several nieces and nephews. Honoring Mrs. Kochan’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4241 Williamson , Bridgeport, Michigan. Pastor Timothy Behnke will officiate. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. In accordance with State mandate ordinances, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
