Donald Wayne Walker Obituary

Donald Wayne Walker, age 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on October 26, 2020, in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by his family. Don was born in Hamilton, Missouri, to Dick Walker and Arlene (Holbrook) Walker on July 10, 1940. He attended Penney High School and graduated in 1958. He worked at Remington Arms. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. Later, he experienced God’s call to ministry and graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1980. He graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988. He worked many years as a Southern Baptist preacher. Don married the love of his life Nancy (Taylor) Walker in 1962. To this union were born two children, Dwayne Richard and Patrick Lane. Don’s parents, Dick and Arlene; one brother Melvin Walker; and a sister Ann Walker preceded him in death. Don is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; son, Dwayne and wife Debbie; son, Patrick; and grandson, Preston. He enjoyed fishing, reading, praying, shooting, watching the Kansas City Chiefs play and visiting with family. Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held, Friday October 30, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. His arrangements have been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory, Springfield, MO.
