Lillian Marie Perkins Wells Obituary

Lillian Marie Perkins Wells left this life for her heavenly home on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at the age of 91.  She was a life-long resident of Madison County, Alabama, and a long-time resident of Meridianville.  
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Maples Sterry (Terry) and Vicki Lee Wells, sons, Charles Danny Maples (Candie) and Charles R. Wells, Jr. (Alisa), grandchildren, Russell Knight, Ellen Sterry, Jason Maples (Laura), Zachary Maples (Whitney), Cassie Deal (Ross), Julie Todd (Jordan), Kasi McDermott, and great-grandson, Felix Maples.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Reed Wells, Sr., her parents, Emmett Roscoe Perkins and Exie Borden Hall Perkins, and her ten brothers and sisters.
Marie proudly served her country in Secretarial and Executive Support roles at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, from 1966 until her retirement in 1993.  She also served her community as Clerk at Briarfork Primitive Baptist Church for many years.  Marie was a gifted artist and china painter.  She and her late husband, Charlie, were genealogists and they researched and co-published extensive histories of the Perkins, Wells, and Maples families.  Marie also had a passion for butterflies, birds, and her flower garden¬¬¬¬.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, from 11:00 to !2:00 at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00, with Brother Ben Winslenne presiding.  Pallbearers will be Zack Maples, Daniel Paniagua, Stephen Perkins, Jerry Perkins, Carl Glass, and Larry Butler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Knight and Terry Sterry.
