Ludy was born on June 7, 1942 in Towner to Louis and his wife Mary Ann Wolfe Rieder. She was raised on a farm near Drake where she attended grade school. She continued her education at Notre Dame Academy in Willow City for 2 years and graduated from Drake High School in 1960. Ludy married Gary Willis Marto in Minot on April 30, 1966. During this time she knitted 125 stocking caps and gave them to school children at the crossings. She enjoyed baby-sitting, without accepting payment, for many years. Ludy will be remembered for her love of her many cats in their home through the years. During this time, she and Gary enjoyed spending many a week-end at their cabin on Lake Sacajawea . She was a member of Little Flower Church in Minot and Rugby during her life. They had moved to Rugby in 2012. Mrs. Marto is survived by her husband, Gary and her siblings, Leo Rieder – Fargo; David (Annette) Rieder – Grand Forks, Martin (Yvonne) Rieder – Towner; Bernie Davis – Simi Valley, California, and Louise Rieder and Lisa Williams – Temecula, California. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, brother Jim Rieder, brother-in-law Stan Davis and an infant sister. Memorials are welcomed to the Heart of America Hospice.
