Guy Nelson, age 59, of Metamora, died suddenly Sunday, October 25, 2020. Guy was born May 13, 1961 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Frank and Mania “Mary” (Kalinowski) Nelson. He graduated from Berkley High School, class of 1979. Guy earned his bachelor’s degree from U of D Mercy and his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. Through the years he worked many jobs in health care. Upon earning his Physician’s Assistant certification he worked several years at Detroit Receiving Hospital and then found his professional home in the O.R. at Troy Beaumont Hospital. In his spare time Guy loved gardening, history and reading. Guy loved all of “God’s creatures” – dogs, cats, worms – all critters. Above all, Guy loved time spent with his family (and everyone knows his favorite was his beloved Amelia). Guy is survived by his wife, Theresa Nelson; mother, Mania “Mary” Nelson of Royal Oak; beloved granddaughter, Amelia; step-son, Bryan (Amanda) Daniels of Almont; siblings: Mark Nelson of Royal Oak, Kris (Michele) Nelson of Howell, Marsha (Jeff) Sobel of White Lake and Amy (Jeff) Burg of Florida; nephews: Matthew (Younghee) Nelson of South Korea, Emmett Nelson of Colorado, Katlyn Sienkiewicz of Port Huron and John (Emma) Sienkiewicz of Rockford; great niece, Nuri and his great nephew, Shiwoo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Nelson and his aforementioned father. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, 2100 West 12 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073. Guy’s family will receive friends at the church from 9:30-10:00AM the morning of Mass. Burial will immediately follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Rochester, Michigan.
