Richard "Red" Adair Obituary

Richard Cole “Red” Adair, son of Roland B. Adair and Helen (McCullough) Adair, was born, December 18, 1930 in Independence, Missouri. He departed this life, October 25, 2020, at his residence in Climax Springs, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, ten months and seven days. On October 28, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Beugin and to this union three children were born. Together they shared nearly sixty-nine years of marriage He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roland Adair Jr; and a sister, Louise White. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Adair of the home; three sons, Richard Adair Jr, Robert Adair and Russell Adair; grandsons, Christopher Adair, Jeremy Smith, William Pectol, Dillon Stokes, Austin Hayes, Shaun Adair and Brian Adair; granddaughters, Savannah Adair, and Kathryn Adair, seven great-grandchildren and a sister; Doris Deml as well as other relatives and many friends. Red grew up in his younger years in Denver, Colorado until his family moved back to the Kansas City, Missouri area where he graduated from high school. After high school Red started working for Western Electric as an electrician. He then joined and proudly served in the United States Army. During his enlistment time, he served with the Signal Corps located in the New York and New Jersey areas. After his discharge with the military, Red went back to work and eventually retired from Western Electric after thirty years of employment. In 1968, he and his family moved to the Climax Springs area where he was actively involved with the Elks Lodge and spent over sixteen years with the Northwest Fire Protection District; serving in many capacities, as well as Chief. In his spare time Red was big into tinkering with vehicles and never missed his NASCAR races. He was a loving and a caring neighbor & friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
