Obituary

Edna Ann Kasouf

North Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear sister, Edna Ann Kasouf, age 68, on Friday, October 23, 2020.

Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Martha (Kelloff) Kasouf.

She is survived by her two brothers, Phil Kasouf and Mike Kasouf, her niece Ashley, cousins, Harold (Edna), Joe, Blair, and Brenda, many other cousins, and her special friends at Stevens Rest Home.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her special aunt, Mary Kelloff, who was like a second mother to her.

Edna Ann was a faithful member of St. Joseph parish in North Sydney.

In her early years she could be found at the Maple Bud, the family business, with her mother or aunt. She loved to meet people and would often say, “I made a new friend today”.

When she was in her early fifties, she worked at the Best of Cape Breton gift shop. She loved the experience and it helped her achieve a little independence. Thank you to Paula and staff.

Edna was well known to many in North Sydney and up until the last couple of years could be seen walking downtown several times a week. A most important part of her routine was to visit Tim Hortons and Brewers Convenience to see Joanne, Verna and Helen who were very kind and loving to her over the years. Thank you.

Edna cherished visits with her niece Ashley. She often would take her downtown and always wanted to introduce her to everyone.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Stevens Rest Home for the care and friendship shown to Edna Ann over the past thirteen years.

To Kim, Thelma, Cavelle, Wendy, Shannon, Emily and Jenny, thank you for your love and kindness. Kim, you and the girls went above and beyond the job description. To her roommate Cathy and to all of her friends, Thank you.

Thank you, Robert and Deb Rahey, Harold and Edna Jabalee, who drove Edna many, many times from the home to her family residence and back to the home, and did so when she was at the Braemore in Sydney. Thanks also for all those Christmas dinners and suppers over the years.

Thank you to Marguerite Westhaver, who worked at the family business years ago, treated Edna like her sister and always remembered Edna on her birthday and special holidays.

To the Balah family, our neighbours for years, also the Young family, Lawrence and Sharon, Joe and Geralyn and family, Lenny and Lynn, Julien and Tina, Paul, D.A., Raymond, Debbie and Marcie, Thank you.
