Gold Tate Reynolds (G.T.), son of the late Allen Jackson Reynolds and Chesty Octave Collins was born January 14, 1929 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the 11th of 12 children and was raised on a farm and educated in the Hall County school system. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Korea where he fought in the famous Marine Corps battle of the “Chosin Reservoir.” Completely surrounded by the Chinese army and with only a 10% chance of survival, he was blessed not only to have survived, but to have come out without being wounded. Because the temperature there was often below minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the few surviving soldiers were often called “The Frozen Chosin” which he proudly wore on all his baseball caps. He dearly loved this country and was very proud of his military service.

After the war he married his pen pal sweetheart, Margaret Dorothy Kempson, on June 9, 1951, and a year later they had their one and only child.

After leaving the service he settled in Atlanta, Georgia and went into the construction business as a foreman. He often took pride in reminding us that he had built over 400 homes in his lifetime. Because of his building experience he had other jobs throughout his life managing the building maintenance for a bank, shopping mall, and other professional buildings.

Gold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many church leadership positions. He died on October 21, 2020 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital Intensive Care Unit from complications due to the Covid 19 virus.

He is survived by his daughter Vivian Cline (S. Douglas), 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and sister Bobbie Gentry (A. W. Thomas) of Gainesville, Georgia.

A viewing will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Anderson & Goff Mortuary located at 11859 S. 700 E., Draper, UT. A small graveside service and military gun salute will be held for the family the next day.
