<p>Newport, NH: Cecile F. Riley, 91, of Highland Avenue passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 23, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.&nbsp;</p> <p>Cecile was born in Hudson, NH on November 16, 1928 to the late J. Omer and Yvonne (Dionne) Lemay.&nbsp; She spent her early years in Hudson, attending St. Aloysius High School.&nbsp; Cecile worked for Sprague Electric for over 30 years retiring as supervisor.&nbsp; She moved to Newport in 1986 and was manager at the Newport Thrift Shop for 14 years as well as a volunteer.&nbsp; Cecile loved designing and hooking her own rugs.</p> <p>Cecile was predeceased by her parents, loving husband of more than 40 years, Girard J. Riley, son, Daniel P. Heroux, three brothers, Victor, Marcel, and Gerard Lemay, and brothers in law, Henry Ducharme, Joe Gamache, Alfred Barton, and Donald Guertin.</p> <p>Surviving family include her daughters, Denise Burns and her husband, Allan of Merrimack, NH, Madeleine Burns and her husband, Dennis of Hudson, NH, and Janet Dow and her husband, Leonard of Newport, NH, grandchildren, Keith Burns, Kimberly Hoagland and her husband, Daniel, Steven Burns, Jeffrey Burns and his wife, Donna, Gregg Burns and his significant other, Lisa Burns, and Allison Shepardson and her husband, Ray, great-grandchildren, Bridgette, Jacqueline, Zachary, and Joshua Hoagland, Michael, Caitlyn, Mary, Aiden, and Cameryn Burns, and Nicklaus and Morgan Shepardson, friend and first husband of 26 years, Paul Heroux, four sisters, Rita Barton of Hudson, NH, Gertrude Ducharme of Nashua, NH, Louise Guertin of Nashua, NH, and Simonne Gamache of Nashua, NH, and many extended family members.</p> <p>A special thank you to everyone at Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice for their care and compassion and the priests and parishioners of St. Patrick Church for their support.&nbsp;</p> <p>A public walk through and visitation will be held on Tuesday October 27, 2020 from 9 to 11 AM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH.&nbsp; A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.&nbsp; Please wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund, 32 Beech Street, Newport, NH 03773 or to Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice, PO Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.</p>

Newport, NH: Cecile F. Riley, 91, of Highland Avenue passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 23, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Cecile was born in Hudson, NH on November 16, 1928 to the late J. Omer and Yvonne (Dionne) Lemay.  She spent her early years in Hudson, attending St. Aloysius High School.  Cecile worked for Sprague Electric for over 30 years retiring as supervisor.  She moved to Newport in 1986 and was manager at the Newport Thrift Shop for 14 years as well as a volunteer.  Cecile loved designing and hooking her own rugs.

Cecile was predeceased by her parents, loving husband of more than 40 years, Girard J. Riley, son, Daniel P. Heroux, three brothers, Victor, Marcel, and Gerard Lemay, and brothers in law, Henry Ducharme, Joe Gamache, Alfred Barton, and Donald Guertin.
