Opal Louise Tipton Roper born April 6, 1929 to Hollis and Opal Tipton, entered eternal life October 22, 2020. She was 91 years old. A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Mrs. Roper will be laid to rest at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Opal was a member of Church of Christ in New Summerfield. In her younger years, Opal was a cosmetologist. For many years, she owned and ran her own plant farm in New Summerfield. In the last years of her life, she worked as a CNA for Bonner Nursing Home in Jacksonville. Opal was very creative and artistic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Opal Tipton; first husband, Williard Neely; second husband, R.T. Roper; daughter, Angela McAnally; brother, Jerry Mack; and sister, Dorothy Grant. Left to cherish Opal’s memory are her children, Jolly Dee Neely, Carolyn Jackson, Marcus Roper, Karen Buckridge and Brenda Gail. Her beloved sister is Betty Ivy and brother-in-law, Bruce. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy, Lori, Jade, Timmy, Rhonda, Amanda, Lisa, Jackqulyne, Jennifer, Joshua and William; many great-grandchildren; nieces, Pamela Carpenter and Debra Neal; and many great nieces and nephews.
