Nellie H. Elliott was born December 17, 1936 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to James Boyd, Sr. and Goline Boyd. She also attended Public School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Nellie married Curtis Holmes, who has passed on. He was the father of her two daughters, Christine Holmes and Maella Holmes, who also has passed on.

Nellie resided in Omaha, Nebraska off and on but made Topeka, Kansas her permanent home which is where most of the Boyd and Holmes family resided. Nellie later remarried her late husband John Elliott. Nellie attended North Omaha Church of Christ faithfully until her health failed her.

Nellie is preceded in death by her daughter, Maella Holmes; her mother and father, Goline Boyd and James Sr.; brother, James Jr.; sister, Jamie Huggins and grandson Tommie Holmes.

Nellie leaves behind with love, her daughter, Christine Holmes and son-in-law Gary Martin; sisters, Sylvia Allen and Estella Boyd; brothers, David Boyd, Roosevelt Boyd, OB Boyd, Jessie Boyd, Melvin Boyd and Johnny Boyd; sister-in-laws, Dorselene Boyd and Melanie Boyd; brother-in-laws, Willie Moore and Johnny Ray Allen; grandchildren, Curtis Holmes, Tanya Holmes, Lisa Holmes, Meca Smith and Damon Smith, 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
