David Duane DeShon Obituary

David DeShon, 84, of Battle Creek, MI went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2020 due to Covid-19. David was born on May 31, 1936.  He was the son of Duane F. and Irma R. (Blanford) DeShon. David graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1954. He played baseball and was a member of the swim team for the Bearcats. David attended Kellogg Community College and studied Engineering and Drafting. He started his career at H.B. Sherman. He would go on to work for Clark Equipment until their closure in 1986, then on to General Motors in Lansing until his retirement in 1996.    David married the love of his life Joyce A (Quada) DeShon on September 20, 1957. The two of them had four children; Denise (Billy) Lee, Wendy (Jeff), Martens, Steven, and Jeff (Kim) DeShon, nine grandchildren; Jeremy (Debi) Martens, Jason (Amy) Lee, Melanie (Jeff) Lake, Shannon (Bobby) Anderson, Ronnie (Amber) Martens, Dustin (Sarah) Lee, Jeffrey (Brandi) DeShon, Kylie DeShon, and Christopher DeShon, and 13 great-grandchildren. David was extremely excited in 2019 to have three great-grandsons born within a month of each other and 2020 brought more excitement with the birth of another great-granddaughter.    David loved to travel with his wife Joyce, but most of all loved his family. Even with a busy career David found time for his children.  One of his favorite memories was teaching his boys Steve and Jeff to bowl. Both boys went on to have several 300 games over the years, then it was finally his turn. David was known by his family and friends as being a very kind man with a loving soul.  David was also a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary’s Church in Marshall, MI.    David is survived by his children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister Diane (David) Gustine of State College, PA; Brother-in-laws: Ron (Charlene) Quada, Fred Quada, Roy (Dawn) Quada and Roger (Debbie) Quada; Sister-in-law: Shirley Quada. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce A. (Quada) DeShon; Parents: Duane F. and Irma R. (Blanford) DeShon,  In-laws: Edward and Virginia Quada, Brother-in-laws: Don Quada and Ray Quada; Sister-in-laws: Janice Quada, Kathy Quada, and Dorothy Quada.    The family has decided there will be no funeral at this time due to the pandemic. There will be a Memorial held in the Spring of 2021.
