Samuel Paul Stephens, 72, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, October 22, 2020. A native of Spartanburg County, SC, he was the eldest son of the late Rev. Paul Alvin Stephens and Rubye Caldwell Stephens. Sam was a kind, generous person, who tried to help others, and he never met a stranger.

He served in the Naval Reserves and was stationed in Norway as he trained to disarm underwater mines. He loved sports of all types. From his youth, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, water skiing, basketball, bowling and tennis.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, October 26, 2020 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum, SC. Services will be conducted by Rev. Brian Tillotson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the ICU medical staff at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for the diligence and compassion shown to the many Covid patients for which they provide care, and also our family is grateful for the support and information updates provided to us by the medical team in their many phone calls.
