Marjorie Mae Perkins

Marjorie M. Perkins, age 89 of Grimes, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born on January 15, 1931 in Afton, Iowa to Clement and Lora Todd. Marjorie married Glenn Perkins of Knowlton, Iowa, on June 4, 1950. They were blessed with two children, Randall and Denise. Marjorie retired from Preferred Risk Insurance Company after 18 years. After raising two children and retiring, Marjorie and Glenn enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Alamo, Texas, making many new friends and spending time in various activities with them. Marjorie enjoyed several short trips to Alaska, Canada, and Minnesota with family & friends. Some of her favorite activities were making porcelain dolls, scrap booking, playing card games and traveling to Mexico to help in the "Manos Extendidas" (Hands Extended) children's homes. Marjorie enjoyed several years with friends at Oakmoor Health Center in Des Moines. She also enjoyed watching her four grandsons Go-Kart racing at her son's track in Jamaica, IA, and traveling to Colorado to spend time with her daughter and family. Marjorie loved the Lord and accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior in 1957. She taught Sunday School and directed Bible School at Faith Baptist Church. In 1993 She joined The Grace Brethren Church in Grimes. She was preceded in death by her parents Clement and Lora Todd; husband Glenn Perkins; five brothers, Forrest, Vernon, Elbert, James and Lyle; and one sister, Mildred Peterson. Those left to cherish her memory include son Randy (Chris) Perkins of Jamaica, Iowa; Denise (Bruce) Pontious of Sac City, Iowa; grandchildren Brian Perkins, David (Susie) Perkins, Tom (Chen) Perkins, Nick (Adreanne) Perkins, Amber (Mike) Prohaska and Kristi (John) Aragon. 15 great grandchildren, Taylor Perkins, Ashley Perkins, Elias Aragon, Isaiah Aragon, Riley Aragon, Lucas Aragon, Elle Prohaska, Alex Prohaska, William Prohaska, Graham Prohaska, Benjamin Prohaska, Lily Perkins, Braxton Perkins, Grady Perkins, and Huxley Perkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A visitation will be held from 11 -1 pm on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Brandt Dallas Center Funeral Chapel in Dallas Center, Iowa. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes.
