Renee Atchison, 92, of Sarasota Florida, the beloved wife of the late William John Atchison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Carryduff, Northern Ireland on February 28, 1928, she was the daughter of late William & Anna McClure. Renee immigrated to America in 1954 and became a US citizen in 1990. She settled in New City, NY, but traveled often with Bill. They enjoyed time in Toronto, Hawaii, Australia and Greece. She also took frequent trips back to Ireland, sharing the memories and experiences of her young life with her children and grandchildren, who joined her on these ventures. For that past 30 years, Renee spent winters at her treasured Sarasota condo community. Renee was a member of a British women’s group that focused on supporting each other as first-generation immigrants. During the 30 years she was a part of this group, she built lifelong friendships that meant the world to her. Renee enjoyed baking for her loved ones who will carry on her favorite Irish bread, buttered horns and wheaten biscuit recipes. Renee is survived by loving her daughters, Patricia Bellgraph (Thomas), Maureen Heintz (Paul), and Evelyn Davies (Tyler). She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren, Kelly Cooley, Sarah Proscia, Kyle Bellgraph, Tyler Heintz, Emma Davies, Rhys Davies and Rhett Davies; as well as great grandchildren, Lauren and Ella Cooley and Madeline and Michael Proscia. A celebration of life of Renee’s life will take place in Sarasota in the spring. She will be brought home to Ireland for burial next to her beloved, Bill.
