Michael William Simpson

Born March 17th, 1960 to Russell and the late Sheila Simpson of Halifax. Mike passed away in August 2020, after a life-long battle with schizophrenia. Mental illness does not define a person. Mike had many gifts which he freely offered, his generosity, his incredible larger than life wit and a never ending sense of humour. Mike worked for many years as a licensed burner mechanic. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew and friend. Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan (Go Habs Go!), a music enthusiast, an expert crib player and league bowler. Mike will forever be deeply missed, and is survived by, his father, Russell; sisters, Patricia (his twin) and Sharon (Peter); brother, Earle; nieces, Allison (Cory) and Jillian (Ruki); great nephews, Cason and Avery; aunts, Christine, Louise, Freda (Perry), Glenna as well as numerous other family and friends. A private family interment will be held at St. John’s Columbarium, Officiated by Revd. Katie Taylor-Flynn. Memorial donations on Mike’s behalf can be made to, Metro Community Housing Association, 349b Pleasant St. Dartmouth NS. “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind. Always.” Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.
