Carl James Grosh Obituary

Grosh, Carl James December 24, 1955 - October 17, 2020 Carl James Grosh, cherished husband of Kathleen Emily Grosh of Calgary, AB, passed away at Peter Lougheed Centre on October 17, 2020 at the age of 64 years. Carl was born in Calgary, AB on December 24, 1955. He will be remembered first and foremost for his wonderful sense of humour and quick wit. He was always ready with a story or joke to make you laugh, or a quick comeback to something just said. Carl was the most kind, gentle, and patient person you’d ever have the fortune to meet. He was a great friend, a man of his word, and left a lasting impression. Carl was a loving and proud father to Colin and Carolynn, and loving grandfather to Everly and his namesake, Harrison Carl. About 20 years ago, fortune smiled on Carl when he met Kathy, who would go on to become the love of his life and whom he married on a perfect October day in 2010. They started off in trying times and became saviours for one another, facing many challenges, but always enjoying their time together. Carl took pleasure in the simple things in life, often in the company of good friends. In his earlier days, Carl enjoyed road trips, camping, snowmobiling and playing softball. Always a hard worker, Carl attended SAIT to become a Journeyman Welder and Steel Fabricator. Most recently, and up to the end, he was in a job he loved as Production Manager at TIW Western. In more recent years he enjoyed driving his truck, flying (and crashing) his drones, watching movies too loud, going for coffee at McDonalds (large with 3 cream and a cranberry orange muffin), or a good nap in almost any chair. He also enjoyed taking random Sunday drives, to nowhere in particular, just to spend the day with Kathy. You would often find Carl out building or fixing anything to lovingly improve their acreage home. At the end of the day, his favourite thing to do was to relax in the gazebo, watching the water flow from the fountain in the garden. Carl persevered through many medical challenges over the years and fought to the end. He never complained and was the picture of resilience, always maintaining his good humour. He will be forever loved and remembered by his beloved wife, Kathy; son, Colin (and Brooke) Grosh of Spring, Texas; daughter, Carolynn Grosh of Fort Collins, Colorado; and his dear grandchildren, Everly Ann Grosh and Harrison Carl Grosh. He is gone too soon and will be missed terribly by all. We will be okay, just not today. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when everybody is able to come together to properly celebrate Carl’s life and the impact he had on so many people.
