Naomi L Floor Obituary

Naomi L. Floor, 96, Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away at Lutheran Life Villages-Village at Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 21, 2020. The last surviving child of Wilfred W. and Ina May (Price) Oldfather, Naomi was born April 19, 1924 in Wabash County, Indiana.

After graduating from Laketon High School in 1942, Naomi married Keith Floor on September 10, 1943. The two were wed for six days short of fifty-one years, before Keith passed away September 4, 1994. During their blissful time together, the two had three daughters. Naomi worked hard to provide for her family. For twenty-seven years, Naomi worked at Kroger, North Manchester, Indiana, and then at Lances Deli, North Manchester. She eventually retired from Family Dollar in Silver Lake, Indiana.

It was faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that defined who Naomi was. She was a woman of vast faith and was tremendously involved in her church community and helping with the Lord’s work. It was until 2018 that Naomi would play the piano at church on Sundays and she would teach Bible School and Sunday School at the Silver Lake Wesleyan Church, Silver Lake, Indiana, where she was a member. Her work didn’t stop at the church however, she would often cook for the elderly in Silver Lake, even though she was older than most. Any time she would have a visitor, she would make sure that they would never leave hungry. For all of her hard work and time donated to Silver Lake, in 2008 Naomi was named the Grand Marshall at Silver Lake Days. When Naomi found free time, she loved tending and nurturing her flowers. She often would find any excuse she could to be outside.

The loving memory of Naomi L. Floor will be forever cherished by her daughters, Margaret “Peggy” (Richard) Miller, Fort Wayne, Carol Joan (Nick) Kamp, Fort Wayne, and Dana Hope Boon, Beverly Beach, Florida; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Wilfred Oldfather Jr., Paul Oldfather, Noble Oldfather, Creighton Oldfather, and Carl Oldfather; and three sisters, Martha Jacobs, Mary Scott, and Ruth Love.

Family and friends may call Monday, October 26, 2020 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling. Pastor David Cox will officiate. Burial will be held at South Pleasant Cemetery, State Road 15 and 1400 North, Silver Lake, Indiana, at a later date.
