Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Luigi Tassone on October 15, 2020, surrounded by his boys Bruno, Ralph and Dave.

Luigi, known affectionately as Gino, was born in Sera, San Bruno, Italy on September 6, 1935. He was raised there along with his four siblings. He came to Canada by boat with his mother, ended up in Jasper where the love of his life Concetta was waiting for him. Together, they raised three boys who were very fortunate to be surrounded by a grandmother, many uncles and aunts, and cousins.

He will be remembered by many relatives, but especially his three sons Bruno (Wendy), Ralph (Michelle), Dave (Candice) and his four grandchildren Orlanda, Olivia, Sasha and Alanna. He also leaves behind nephews, nieces. great-nephews, great-nieces and many friends that he valued a great deal.

Gino was predeceased by his parents Luigi and Carmela, three siblings, Francesco, Maria Gracia and Cosmo. He is survived by his one sister Marietta (Zaffino), from Jasper.

Gino was a quiet, happy man working on the railroad until his retirement. Together with Concetta they moved to Edmonton to be with their two boys. Gino always wanted to help and couldn't sit around, so he decided to help his son Dave with his gas station and convenience store. There you would see Gino for coffee every day in Devon where he became so popular he was declared the Major of Devon. When the love of his life passed in 2017, Gino came back to Jasper and was at the Alpine Summit and later was admitted to Edson Home Care.

A celebration of Gino's life is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11am at Lady of Lourdes Church followed by a family burial at 12.30pm. Numbers will be restricted due to COVID and health protocols will be in place.
