Rose Madeline Paisley

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother Roselyn (Roz). She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William John; sisters Dorothy Seibel (High River) and Anne Stables (Regina); her children Kim (Armella Sonntag), of Regina [Kira (Dan), John], Cheryl Allred of Calgary [Aric, Kent, Lesley (Adam)], William (Karen) Paisley of Regina, [Shawn, Adam (Danielle), Christopher (Muze)], Patrice Paisley and Henry Koopman of Hillcrest Mines, Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews. Roselyn was predeceased by their son Jared William (2008); parents Ignatius and Anna Biegler; siblings Mary Thauberger, Irene Bothorel, Cyril Biegler, Geraldine Donoghue, Mildred Measner, and Rita Poissant; son-in-law Vance Allred, and daughter-in-law Maureen Paisley. Roselyn was born in Regina and attended school at Sacred Heart Academy. She treasured her childhood and summers spent on the family farm near Vibank with Aunt Kitty and Uncle John, riding horses and driving the steel wheel tractors. She had a great love for the country and “moo cows”, and loved to tell stories of her wonderful memories of the good old days. After high school she pursued her love of figure skating and travelled to Montreal to audition for the world famous ‘Ice Capades’ and went to Hollywood for rehearsals for the upcoming season. She skated from 1952-1954 and travelled extensively with the company throughout the US from coast to coast including Los Angeles, Washington DC, Atlantic City, Boston, Chicago, Montreal and Toronto. They made two appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show at Madison Square Gardens, NY. After her skating career she moved back to Regina and married William in 1954. The family spent many summers at the family cottage at Echo Lake. Her sister Dorothy and her family also spent summers there and that provided the kids and cousins with lots of carefree days and treasured memories. The grandchildren have many happy memories with Grandma as well. They loved her funny sayings and her sense of humour, spending time at the cottage and listening to her stories. She was always interested in their activities and lives. They fondly remember Grandma’s world famous brownies, birthday cakes, kitchen sink cookies and licorice. In their retirement years, Roselyn and Bill spent a few winters in Arizona with her sisters and on the west coast in B.C. In later years they loved to go for country drives. She had a strong faith which served as an anchor throughout her life, particularly during the last seven years when shingle neuralgia was her constant companion. We will greatly miss her sense of humor, her warm, kind, loving and selfless giving and concern for her family.
