Sharon Gile, 75, of Creston died Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Ia. of COVID-19. Private memorial services will be held with only family in attendance at 10:00 a.m. on Monday October 26, 2020. Services will be live streamed on Powers Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Vincent Dicks (a brother to Sharon) will officiate the service. No public visitation will be held. Powers Funeral Home in Creston is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at Quincy near Corning. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be determined for later designation. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com. Sharon Jane (Dicks) Gile, daughter of Robert and Mary (Case) Dicks, was born September 7, 1945 in Corning, Ia. She was united in marriage to Larry Eugene Gile. This union was blessed with four children, Barbara, James, Robert and Steven. Sharon worked at Berning’s Café for 25 years and then began her career at Hy-Vee. After 20 years of working at Hy-Vee, Sharon retired. Sharon was an avid bowler and passed her love for the sport to her children. After many years of bowling, Sharon was elected to the Bowling Hall of Fame. Later in her life, Sharon enjoyed gathering with friends and playing cards. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Thompson of Des Moines; three sons, James (Karen) Best of Creston, Robert (Beverly) Best of Los Angeles, Calif. and Steven Best of Des Moines; grandchildren, Scott Thompson of Des Moines, Jennie Best of Texas, Hanna Best of Creston, Jonathan Hysell of Park Hills, Mo., Jacob (Jennifer) Best of Prescott, Amanda Hysell of Los Angeles, Calif., Carissa Best of Des Moines, Cole Best of Grimes and Cooper Best of Grimes; two great-grandchildren, Justin Best and Zarion Dames; brothers, Vernon ‘Joker’ (Sandy) Dicks of Wisconsin and Vincent (Patti) Dicks of Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Helen Still of Omaha, Ark., Jeanette Kelly of Allerton and Joann (David) Farmer of Crooks, S.D.; along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, granddaughters, Breana and Libby Best, brothers, Victor Dicks and Verlin ‘Lefty’ Dicks and sister Roberta Rurode.
