Cameron E. Spaulding Walla Walla, Washington Obituary

Cameron E. Spaulding

On Monday, October 19, 2020, Cameron Spaulding passed away in College Place, Washington from advanced liver disease at the age of 67. Cameron was born to Earl and Marty Spaulding April 16, 1953 in Candler North, Carolina. He and his parents were members of the Seventh Day Adventist church and devoted his life to the betterment of humanity. He is survived by his mother, two children, three grandchildren, a nephew, a niece and a grandnephew. In 2015 after experiencing some ongoing discomfort he was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. The origin or cause of his liver damage is unclear. He confidently faced the disease and continued to nobly help others until the end. As was the case for all aspects of his life, he selflessly allowed God to control the outcome of the disease and elected not to pursue liver transplant options. His quality of life decreased in the last year, yet he remained positive and fearless in the face of the horrible disease. He had a relationship with God and will one day soon be able to rise again to join us. It’s fair to say that if you had to summarize his life in one word it would be “service”. He was a skilled educator and loved to learn new things and teach anything he could. His teaching style was not the usual, in fact, he didn’t enjoy classrooms at all. He always wanted to work on things one-on-one so he could watch you learn and hold your hand if need be. He generously spent 10 years in mission service in Kenya and Peru. He was an extremely involved father and loved his kids (and grandkids) more than anything in the world and dedicated his life to helping them learn and grow in grace. If you knew him, you probably are very familiar with his dry humor and list of common jokes/quips. He never failed to have something to say and delighted in watching you laugh. If you needed anything, he would go out of his way to help you and he got great satisfaction in helping. He believed strongly in Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to selfless service. Since 2008 he had been living and working in the Walla Walla valley including being the Facilities Director for Wheatland Village and being actively involved in Christian prison ministries. In addition, he regularly visited the independent ministry Pra del Tor in the province of Manabi, Ecuador. His knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and communication systems helped build up that ministry and allowed him to spend quality time with two of his grandkids. His daughter Laurie and her husband Barac and their two children, his grandchildren, Caleb (20) and Becky (16) run this ministry. His son George is an Engineering graduate of Walla Walla University and works as a NAVY contractor in Gig Harbor, WA with his wife Melissa (Bassham) a dentist and parents to their daughter Sylvie (3). His father Earl and sister Kristy Casey preceded him in death. Kristy is survived by her two children Lisa and Shawn and grandson Luke. His wishes for anyone reading this would be to encourage you to continue to look for Christ daily and dedicate your life to helping others. If your life was touched by Cameron, we would love it if you could share a memory for others to see on the website provided. We are certain that he impacted more people than we will ever know.
