Obituary

Seth E. Bentley, 41, of Shapleigh Corner Road, died unexpectedly October 20, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Sanford, ME on August 25, 1979, the son of Dick Bentley and Catherine (Peck) Friedman.  Seth attended Noble High School and a 1997 graduate of Sanford High School.  After high school Seth worked in construction,  and from there he got a job as a Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator. Over time he  became a Hydroelectric Power Plant Supervisor,  over-seeing various water plants in the area on the Salmon Falls River in both Maine and New Hampshire.

In 2004 Seth met the love of his life Samantha with a love like no other and was married in 2007.  They thought the world of one another.  He helped raise her two children and added one of their own to the family who were raised in Shapleigh.  He was proud of all his children and  thought the world of each of them.  Isabelle with her artistic skill, Olivia with her ventriloquist acts, and most of all he was so proud of Tristan who is currently at boot camp for military police in the Army National Guard.

For all of those who knew Seth, knew he loved taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they worked, especially his 1 hit engine and all of his dad’s equipment.  His newest project that he was excited about getting together was his tractor.  Once he got his tractor running he was so very excited to teach his wife and daughter Olivia to drive it around the yard.  Seth enjoyed watching footfall and hunting with his father in law.  He had a love for old trucks and was so very proud of his 1931 Ford Model AA that he and his son worked on together.  Most of all he loved his family and spending time with his family.

Seth will always be remembered as a kind loving man who would do anything to help out anyone that needed it.  His jokes, his laughter, and his smile will forever be in our hearts.

He was pre-deceased by his mother, Catherine (Peck) Friedman in 2019.  He will be sorely missed by his wife of 16 years, Samantha (Shepard) Bentley and their children, Tristan Pierce, Isabelle Pierce and Olivia Bentley; his father, Dick Bentley of North Berwick; his step-father, Carlton Friedman; his in-laws, Martin and Debra Shepard; his sister Brooke and her children, Jonathan, Lorenzo, Adriana and River; brothers-in-law, James Shepard and Josh Hager; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and too many friends to count.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, October 24 from 2 to 5pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME.  According to COVID-19 policies, masks will be required.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 26 at the Hillside Cemetery in North Berwick for family and close friends.

Memorial donations for the family are accepted and a trust will be set up shortly.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick, ME where condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
