Sylvia Stadel Obituary

STADEL - Sylvia Stadel (nee: Collins) went to be with the Lord October 20, 2020. Sylvia was born on November 6, 1942, in England, to Lucy Unsworth and Thomas Copthorne Collins. Sylvia immigrated to Canada when she was a young child. As a young child Sylvia enjoyed tap dancing and reminisced recently that she enjoyed tap dancing for her grandfather, showing him all that she had learned. On January 30, 1959 Sylvia was united in marriage to Arthur Stadel. They were blessed with three children. Arthur (Drew), Brenda and Denise. In Sylvia’s younger years she enjoyed bowling and was very good at it. After leaving B.C. and moving to Dubuc in 1975, Sylvia spent her farming days raising exotic birds and tending to all animals. People came from many miles to see all the animals, coming from as far as Australia and Sable Island. There were many school tours and travellers from far and wide. Friends and strangers alike were always welcomed at the farm. Sylvia enjoyed socializing with friends and family. A favorite past time was singing and playing the harpsichord. She was a very talented musician. Gospel and country music were her favorites. Sylvia and Arthur spent many days entertaining people with their beautiful gift of music. After leaving the farm in Dubuc, Sylvia and Arthur retired in Canora. Here they enjoyed being members of the United Church, meeting new friends and neighbors and weekly visits shared with their daughter, Brenda. Sylvia will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She is predeceased by her parents Lucy Pompu and Thomas Copthorne Collins, mother and father in law, Elizabeth and Fred Stadel and numerous brother and sister in laws. She will be missed but always cherished by her husband Arthur, son Arthur (Drew) & (Karen Keller), daughter Brenda (Carlyle) Topliss, Kenneth, Lacey & Jason Ruthven, Mackenzie and Ryder, daughter Denise (Michael) Polishak, Matthew, Kelsey and many nieces and nephews. A private family Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from the Chapel of Bailey’s Funeral Home, Yorkton, Sask., with Rev. Marg Janick-Grayston officiating. The eulogy was given by Denise Polishak. The interment will be held in Dubuc Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the M.S Research Centre Foundation (c/o City Hospital Foundation, 701 Queen St. Saskatoon, SK S7K 0M7) as gifts of remembrance.
