They married on Super Bowl Sunday in 1971 and their union would last 49 years and produce 3 children and 6 grandchildren. His son Dale Kelly, his wife Laura, and their children, Evan and Maddy, live in Basking Ridge, New Jersey; his daughter Andrea Methven, her husband Brian and their children, Nate and Keira, live in East Moriches, New York; his daughter Megan McGourty, her husband Ryan and their children, Olivia and Emma, live in Patchogue, New York. Dennis earned his Bachelor’s degree in History at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York. With that degree in hand, he then went on to work most notably as a pharmaceutical sales executive for 17 years at Pall Corporation on Long Island. Following that, he realized his dream of owning a sports bar near his home in Patchogue, New York. Not surprisingly, it was named “Kelly’s”. As the owner and oftentimes bartender, he exhibited his great skills to engage, listen, and counsel his patrons. Those same skills endeared him to his family and his friends, and anyone who would listen. Dennis was a man of faith, serving as a lector for over 20 years at his parish in New York. Dennis enjoyed playing golf and cooking; he was an avid reader, and he loved listening to Broadway tunes. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. Services will be held at a later date in New York. Donations in his honor may be made to the Hospice Care of the Low Country.
