Dorothy Josephine SEIBOLD Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Dorothy Seibold announce her passing on October 19, 2020 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 84 years.

Dorothy was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan to Alex and Annie Stratilo and grew up with sister Shirley in the CPR section house in Herschel.  Dorothy was very musical and rode the train to Rosetown every Saturday for piano lessons.  She received an ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music at a young age and taught piano lessons in her home and in many surrounding communities.

On May 3, 1958, Dorothy married Lloyd Louie Seibold.  That same year they built a new home on the farm southwest of Stranraer and together raised four children: Linda, Richard, Grant and Mark.  Dorothy was an amazing farm wife and helped Lloyd with all the farming chores and was known for her very productive gardens.  Dorothy and Lloyd celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage.  Their devotion and love for each other is much admired by family and friends.  Lloyd said that when Dorothy smiled, her whole face smiled.  They did everything together and loved playing cards, cribbage and crokinole.

Dorothy was involved with many community organizations: Story Hour, Stranraer Royal Purple, Stranraer Little Theatre, the Herschel Quilting and Recycling Club and Ancient Echoes.  Dorothy was an avid photographer and carried her camera with her at all times.  She captured her love of nature and wildlife in her amazing photos.  Her pictures were displayed at Ancient Echoes and The Long Mini Mall, and featured in several magazines and calendars.  Many of her literary works were published, some under her pen name DJ Summers, in magazines and newspapers.  Dorothy’s collections of elephants, moose, butterflies, birds, teacups and salt and pepper shakers will be treasured.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her soul mate and love of her life, Lloyd; daughter Linda (Bob) Klassen, sons Richard (Claire) Seibold, Grant (Jodi) Seibold, Mark (Krista) Seibold,  thirteen grandchildren; Stephanie (John) Dipple, Erin (Shane) Swan, Lindsay (Ryan) Klassen, Brad (Carma) Klassen, Carly (Morgan) Nunweiler, Jeff  (Kelsey) Seibold, Kaitlyn Seibold, Megan (Mike) Heyhurst, Kelsy (Corey) Thompson, Logan Seibold, Brayden Seibold, Ethan Seibold and Quinten Seibold.  They were blessed with seventeen great grandchildren; Mckenna and Boston Dipple, Laiken and Grayson Swan, Rowen, Rhett and Crey Klassen, Mitchell, James, Andrea and Rebecca Nunweiler, Jaxson Seibold, Kacen and Payten Heyhurst and Spencer, Brooke and Carter Thompson.  She is also survived by sister Shirley (Stratilo) Fleischhaker, brother-in-law Herb Seibold, cousins John Stratilo and Helen Faith and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Alex and Annie Stratilo, her father and mother-in-law Louie and Laura Seibold, granddaughter Britney Seibold and cousin Don Stratilo.
