Barbara Cragun Obituary

Barbara Jacobson Cragun, 84, of Peoria, AZ passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Barbara was born November 2, 1935 in Heber, UT to Nile Davis and Lois Mar (Wilson) Jacobson. She was the second of three daughters. When Barbara was 2, for economic reasons, the Jacobson family moved from Utah to the San Francisco Bay area where other Wilson family members had already relocated. The five Wilson siblings and their families were very close. They had many fun picnics, camping trips and other social gatherings with aunts, uncles and cousins. Barbara met Simeon B. Cragun in high school and they soon became sweethearts. Though living in California, they married in Logan, UT on July 6, 1955. Barbara and Sim were married for 63 years until his death in February, 2019. They raised four children. Barbara was a fun and loving mother. There were many fun trips to the beach as a family. There were many get-togethers with her sisters and their families and her parents. Holidays were especially fun. More importantly, she taught her children what they needed to know to succeed in life. She was a wonderful and adventurous cook, preparing all sorts of cuisine. She liked to sew, knit and crochet. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. After years of being a full time mother, Barbara went to work in 1974. She was sales clerk, then an accounting clerk at a department store. Later, she was an accounting clerk at a hi-tech company. During this time, nine grandchildren were born. Barbara loved newborn babies and helped out after the birth of each one of them. She was a very loving grandmother. She and Sim retired and moved to Arizona in 1994. During retirement Barbara became a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers which she really enjoyed. During the last two years of her life, Barbara suffered several strokes and was in a homecare facility. She was visited daily by her daughter Kathleen. Barbara rejoins her husband Simeon, her parents, and her older sister, Marlene Bisio. She is survived by her younger sister, Janice Eide. Her legacy lives on in her children, Linda Willis, Kathleen Ferla, Kenneth Simeon Cragun and Ian Andrew Cragun as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 12:30 at Arrowhead Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 21000 N. 75th Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85308.
