Garis Pollert Obituary

 

     Garis A. Pollert, 72, of Northwood, ND passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020 with his family by his side. A private funeral service will be held.

     Garis A. Pollert was born January 9, 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND to Wilbur (Butch) Pollert and Grace (Bickett) Pollert. He grew to manhood on the family farm near Litchville, ND and graduated from Litchville High School. He graduated from Lakeland Medical Institute in Minneapolis and worked as a Medical Technologist in Gackle, ND and came to Northwood in 1971. Here he met the love of his life and he was united in marriage to Pamela J. Weber on October 20, 1973. Four children were born of this union, which are Jennifer, Michael, Mark, and Steven. They both worked the medical field for many years until Garis started working for Agvise for 16 years as a chemist.

     Garis was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, Church Council, and Knights of Columbus. Also the Northwood City Council, Northwood Commercial Club, Ducks Unlimited Committee, Lions Club, Advisory Board for Laboratory Education of ND, and instructor for Hunter’s Education. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, oil painting, gardening, working with wood projects, taking long walks with his wife, but the thing he enjoyed the most was teaching oil painting to the 6th grade class at the local school.

     Garis is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Evans, Northwood; sons, Mark (Emily) Pollert, Northwood; and Steven (Chelsey Fey) Pollert, Fargo, ND; brother, Loren Pollert, Sunnyville, CA; sisters: Sharon (Jerry) Harrington, Moorhead, MN; and Cynthia Gabeheart, Valley City, ND; grandchildren: Katie, Ally, Tyler, Jacob, Willow, Landin, Coltin, Autumn, Finn, Kaleb, Elijah, Laken, Asher, Hadley, and Skya; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and close family friends, Karl and Mary Broeren.

     He was preceded in death by his son, Michael G. Pollert; parents, Wilbur and Grace; father and mother in law, Robert and Delores Weber; brother-in-law, Dave Weber; sister-in-law, Mary Weber; and brother-in-law, William Gabeheart.

     Garis has asked that memorials be donated to Relay for Life.
