Michael Garth Larson

GARTH MICHAEL(Mike) LARSON, 58, of Anthem, AZ passed away October 16, 2020 in Scottsdale, AZ. Mike was born July 20, 1962 in Logan, Utah to Garth and Marilyn Larson. In 1963 the family moved to Salem, Oregon, where Mike grew up and went to school. He was a member of the LDS Church. He always loved sports and played basketball, baseball, track and football, which was his love, along with his Oregon Ducks! He graduated from North Salem High School June, 1980. He played football at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for one year and later attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem. He traveled to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked in construction for Livermore, Inc. until 1984. He decided to trade the cold of Alaska for the warmth of Arizona to attend the Phoenix Institute of Technology with a focus on drafting and architecture. He loved drawing and creating. He worked and learned from several architects before landing at Irwin Pasternack, AIA. He worked the next thirty plus years under the mentorship, partnership and friendship of Irwin Pasternack. He thrived on the challenge of the projects he worked on and enjoyed sharing what he was doing. Mike spent countless hours enjoying his favorite pastime – Golf. He loved playing golf, with a hole in one on an Oregon golf course being one of the highlights of his golfing endeavors. Although he was far from the family home, his commitment to his family was unmistakable. His six sisters adored their big brother and cherished his phone calls and visits. His contagious laugh will be missed. He married his love, Deana, in 2015 and she brought happiness and contentment to his life. He is survived by his wife, Deana, her three sons, Anthony, Dylan and Andrew, his parents, Garth and Marilyn Larson, Salem, Oregon, and six sisters: Kim Larson(Jack Kennedy), Salem, Oregon; Kellie (Dan) Borgholthaus, Eagle, Idaho; Tammy (Paul) Egbert, Salem, Oregon; Jill (Tony) Lopez, Keizer, Oregon; Karen Larson, Salem, Oregon; and Jennifer (Matt) Lytle of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
