<p>Josie Kubena, age 74, passed away October 20, 2020 after a battle with Alzheimer&rsquo;s.<br /> <br /> She was born on September 27, 1946 in La Joya, Texas to Isidro and Guadalupe Garza. She was the oldest of five children. She often spoke about how she enjoyed helping take care of her younger siblings. She graduated from La Joya High School in 1965. She had fond memories of her high school years and friends. Josie married her husband Edwin Frank Kubena, Jr. of 42 years on November 5, 1967. Soon after marrying, they moved to Corpus Christi. Together they enjoyed the outdoors, spending countless hours working in their yard. Josie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed jazz music, her garden, and most especially her grandchildren.<br /> <br /> She is preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, and her brother Isidro.<br /> <br /> Survivors include her daughters Gail (husband Clay) Williamson and LeeAnn (husband John) Hutzel, her brother Robert Garza, sisters Anna (husband Alan) Latour and Yolanda Garza De Larriu, and five grandchildren.<br /> <br /> Due to COVID-19 the family has asked that the funeral service be reserved for family members, with a live stream available to the public. Josie Kubena, age 74, passed away October 20, 2020 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on September 27, 1946 in La Joya, Texas to Isidro and Guadalupe Garza. She was the oldest of five children. She often spoke about how she enjoyed helping take care of her younger siblings. She graduated from La Joya High School in 1965. She had fond memories of her high school years and friends.
