Elnor Sue Wood, 72, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020.  A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Sue was born April 13, 1948 in Terrell, TX to Curtis Leon and Elnor Bernice (Stewart) Ashby.  She was the seventh of eight siblings.  As a child, Sue moved with her family to Cotton Center, TX where she attended school and her parents farmed.

Sue was the mother to four children and often wore many hats.  She was the caregiver, the organizer, schedule maker, teacher, homemaker and sometimes the disciplinarian.  She loved her family and enjoyed her close circle of friends.  Over the years, she worked part-time at Cotton Center Coop Gin and served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Women’s Protective Services in Plainview, TX.  Sue later moved to Amarillo, TX where she worked as the Property Manager for Amarillo Estates up to her retirement.  She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Curtis and Bernice; brothers Herman, Ray and Ralph; sisters Mary and Wanda and former spouse Gary Wood.

She is survived by her four children, DeShane Mena of Amarillo; Tony Wood and wife Shannon of Adrian; Michael Wood and wife Nancy of Lubbock; Brenda Dunlap and husband Dennis of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother Kenneth Ashby and wife Norma Sue of Cotton Center; sister Ruth Byrd and husband Alvis of Amarillo.
