Nelda Joyce Shelton, 86, of Amarillo died October 16, 2020.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Nelda was born March 27, 1934 in Wellington, TX to Johnnie and Ava Nipper. She married William Haskell Shelton on September 28, 1956 in Tulia. Nelda was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church of Amarillo and volunteered as a house parent for Boys and Girls Country of Houston for 2 years.  Nelda loved dolls and antiques. Her home was filled with her collection of dolls, both antique and new.  She and her husband Haskell owned and operated “Delightful Treasures” a doll, toy, and antique shop on 6th street in Amarillo.  She most enjoyed the time she spent babysitting her grandchildren and loving on her great-grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as “Nana”. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Haskell Shelton; son, William Kent Shelton; and brother, Earl Wayne Nipper.

Nelda is survived by her sons Keith Shelton and wife Vickie; Kevin Shelton and wife Sharon; daughter Kim Thompson and husband Tom and Starla Beard; daughter-in-law Susan Shelton; brother Bobby Nipper and wife Kay; 14 grandchildren:  Brenda Shelton Koehn, Nicki Shelton Meza, Shannon Shelton, Jaclyn Shelton Staton, Stephanie Shelton, Katie Shelton Hubik, Amanda Shelton Hogg, Nathan Shelton, Reyanne Thompson, Shayla Thompson, Eric Bauer, Shawn Stewart, Stephanie Asher and Alexandria Thompson; 20 great-grandchildren:  Madylin Koehn, Joey Meza, Gabby Meza, Christina Meza, Easton Staton, Peyton Staton, Godric Hubik, Adelaide Hubik, Clare Hubik, Saoirse Hubik, Maddison Hogg, Piper Hogg, Owen Hogg, Hunter Perea, Mallory Bauer, Amelia Stewart, Alexander Stewart, Kinsley Stewart, Ptolemy Asher, Adyson Gordon; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to Boys and Girls Country of Houston, TX or Second Baptist Church of Amarillo, TX.
