Geraldine M. Waegelein

Geraldine M. Waegelein, 82, of Somerset passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at her home. Born in Wantagh Long Island, NY, she grew up in Brooklyn and resided in Douglas Manor, NY for 43 years before moving to Somerset 14 years ago. She was an Executive Secretary at Macys and a communicant of St. Anastasia RC Church both in Douglaston. Gerry is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert F.; her children Peggy Anne Dowd of Beach Haven West; Kathleen Soriano and her husband Bruce of Piscataway; Robert A. and his wife Anna of Pawling NY; Eileen Colagrande and her husband John of Mt. Pleasant SC; Heidi Hansberry and her husband Kevin of Parsippany; her brother George Croake and his wife Patricia of Manasquan; her sister Eileen Wayne of Frackville PA; her sister-in-law, Janet Chernik from Succasunna, NJ ;her grandchildren Katieanne, Robert T., Jacklyn, Robert F., Kerri, Jeanette, Elizabeth, Emily, Megan, Seamus, Liam and Sean; great-grandchildren Connor, Sadie, Emilia and Robert A.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Geraldine was an avid reader and talented artist. She was at her happiest when her home was filled with family and also loved socializing with her life long friends from Brooklyn, NY. Visitation is Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 4-8 PM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 9:45 AM from the funeral home; followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will follow at Brig General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the American Lung Association (lung.org).
