Cecelia G. Robinson Jamaica, New York Obituary

Cecelia G. Robinson

Cecelia Grace Robinson was born on January 28, 1960 to Edward and Eleanor Robinson. Cecelia attended her local elementary and middle school in Queens, NY and attended High School at the Cathedral School of St. Mary in Garden City, NY. She continued her education at Adelphi University where she received both a Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Social Work. Cecelia worked in social services for the NYC Human Resources Administration, as a New York State Parole Officer, a licensed Social Worker for Graham Windham; and later found her dream job as a Social Worker/ Guidance Counselor for the NYC Department of Education where she worked for 30 plus years. In later years her hobbies included photography as a member of the SQPA Photography Club of South Jamaica Queens, being of service to the community as a Notary Public; and volunteer work as an End of Life Doula with the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, Queens. Cecelia took pride in her career and everything she did. Nourishing, mentoring and providing guidance to her students, families and peers. Cecelia took the most pride in raising and providing for her three beloved children David, KaLeena and Chalaunda. She relished in her children's accomplishments and her beautiful grandchildren. Cecelia embraced grandmother-hood happily with open arms welcoming all her grandchildren bedside at their births with warm hugs and kisses that would last a lifetime. Cecelia’s role as a mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend came effortlessly. Cecelia played the role of second mother to her nieces and nephews as well as many of her children’s friends accepting them all as her “adopted children” earning her the nickname, “Mama Rob”. Cecelia was fun, loving and caring. Some would refer to her personality and zest for life as the “life of the party” itself. Cecelia enjoyed traveling the world on vacations and making unforgettable memories “representing Queens”, as she would famously say wherever she went. Cecelia had a strong Christian faith that she practiced throughout her years. On Saturday, October 17, 2020, the Lord saw fit to call his daughter home to rest saying, “Job well done thy good and faithful servant”. Cecelia is now reunited with her parents Edward (2004) and Eleanor (2017), who preceded her in death. Cecelia is survived by her three children David, KaLeena and Chalaunda; six grandchildren Chaza’e, Isaiah, Melique, Janiya, Cameron and Grayson; nephew Kyle Flowers; brother and sister-in-law Albert and Loretta Robinson; Aunt and Uncle Herbert and Lillian Shevers; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. Cecelia will be missed by all who knew her and will remain in the hearts of those who will love her forever.
