Randy Joe Harris passed away at his home in Odessa, TX., on October 16, 2020, with his family surrounding him with love. Randy was a much loved father, Paps, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Randy was born on November 28, 1952, in Albany, TX. to J.L. and Corene (Mask) Harris, Jr., and was blessed to acquire his second dad when his mother married Melvin Ball.

After graduating from Richland High School in 1971, in Ft. Worth, TX., Randy married the mother of his children Rita Waechter on May 28, 1977. He also went to Tarrant County Junior College where he played rugby and then went to Angelo State University. After completing IMCO Mud School in Houston, TX., he made his living working in the oil and gas industry. Randy founded and operated Oilfield Mud and Chemical Services since1987. 

Randy is survived by his daughters, Leah Stice and Angela Lucke; grandchildren, Taylor Mahan,  Katelynn Stice, Aiden Nichols, Molly Jo Harris, and great grandson Nolan Mahan, all of Odessa; sister, Connie and husband, Danny Henson, of Montgomery, TX.; brother, Darrell Ball and wife Mary, of Grove City, Ohio; Rita Harris, his children’s mother; stepmother, Gay Nell Ball, of Bedford, TX.; multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews, and innumerable friends. 

Always active in the community, Randy served as director for the Permian Basin International Oil Show.  He also volunteered for the Permian Basin Regional Council of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.  Randy was an honorary member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and served as Gang Boss for the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang. He was devoted to helping others in Alcoholics Anonymous. In addition to serving the community he enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, and watching baseball on the patio.  He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church. 

Randy will be remembered as always having a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit and will be deeply missed.  He liked to remind people that “your ego is not your amigo” and to take it one day at a time.
