Linda Lee Schauland, 72, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. Linda was born in Joliet, IL on October 5, 1948. Following graduation from Lincoln Way High School in New Lenox, IL, Linda began her career at the Rock Island Railroad, in Chicago, where she met her future husband, Dick. Linda and Dick moved to Putnam County in 1973. Linda continued her career as an Administrative Assistant at Briarwood School. Following the closing of Briarwood, Linda became a mortgage counselor at First Federal Savings and Loan. After retirement, Linda and her husband traveled throughout the nation on a motorcycle and in later years in their motorhome. Linda was a very active Christian and a member of Momentum Church in Jacksonville, FL as well as the Freedom Christian Center in Charlotte, NC. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Marium Clark, and her brother Larry who died at birth. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dick, their daughter Melinda Knauer (Lee) of Portland, OR, and a sister Joann Oyster (Dave) of Green Cove Springs. A memorial service celebrating Linda’s life will be Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson Overturf chapel in Palatka with Pastor Danon Winter officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers Linda requested that donations be made to Ambassadors to the Nations, 4020 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, or at ambassadorstothenations.com. Linda was very active with this mission organization both at their headquarters and on mission trips.
